I've been thinking a lot lately about dreams. Not the kind of dreams that linger in your memory as you readjust to the morning light, but the kind that inspire courage and give purpose. Dreaming is a very important part of living, one that we too easily push aside as the tolls of life weigh heavily on us.

Here are just some of my thoughts about dreams: Dreamers are often viewed as naive and reckless, or saintly. Either we reject the dreams of others or wish we could live them, and sometimes it is a combination of both. I've noticed too that some people get married and put their dreams on hold, while some get married in order to jumpstart their dreams. I have become aware that I am not truly satisfied listening to someone else respond to the question: 'How are you, really?', unless the answer involves a deep searching for dreams or a contentment which comes from living in a dream. I am not satisfied to only dream for my own life, I have to make sure that everyone around me has a dream too, or at least knows that they need one. Dreams do not take us outside of the plans of God, in fact, he moulds the dream within us. I have studied Psalms and Proverbs asking God about his direction for my life. Again and again, his response was igniting love in my heart. When we delight in him, when we seek his kingdom and love above all else, the worries of life pass away. Our hearts then have room to become inflamed with a desire to serve and know him. Some might feel the freedom to teach, rescue souls, create beauty or provide shelter. The possibilities are endless! The chains stopping us might be our own problems that seem too grand to put aside. It is in the very putting aside, however, that we truly see the abundance of life that Jesus himself promised to us.

the desires of your heart"

Proverbs 16:9 - we make plans but God determines our steps

John 5:14-15 - whatever we ask in his name, he hears and responds

Proverbs 16:3 - commit your plans to God and they will succeed
